One way to do this is with secret packs, as these time-limited virtual booster packs offer cards based around a theme, with them all working together to help players build cohesive deck strategies. This can be overwhelming at first, but if you know where to look and are willing to explore Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel secret packs - either by opening Master Packs or crafting, the latter of which we recommend best - you can end up with card combinations that work with, instead of against, you. On this page: If you’re looking for more help, we explain the best starter deck in Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel. These limited card pools help serve specific strategies, so instead of just drawing from fewer cards that are still completely random, secret packs are each tailored to useful combinations. Each secret pack also has three stats - power, technical and hold the line - which can broadly help you pick a secret pack that reflects how you want to play:
Power refers to attack points and damage capabilities Hold the line references defence points and ways of staying in the fight Technical references the general complexity of the cards in the theme
Every secret pack you buy contains eight cards: four from the entire game’s card pool, and four from the secret pack. The secret pack cards are on the right. Secret packs are only available for 24 hours at a time, and if you unlock them again in that time it doesn’t add 24 hours onto your countdown, it simply resets it. So let them run out before you reset them.
Master packs give random secret packs Card crafting rewards specific secret packs
Both are explained in the coming sections. Regardless of what you go with, both methods give you the same resource: keys. Keys are obtained through cards, specifically Super or Ultra Rare ones - which are sourced from master packs… If you open a booster set of ten master packs when you have no secret packs unlocked, you can get anywhere in the range of five to ten different secret packs. Opening master packs gives you random secret packs, as each secret pack has highlighted cards tied to unlocking it, which you get from master packs. The number of keys you have whilst opening master packs will appear on the top left of your screen, and once you’ve opened all your packs each secret pack you’ve unlocked will be shown on the right. You can also get a few keys in the solo mode, but this is a one time thing. The other method is through crafting cards, which we’ll get to. Once you find a secret pack you like through the key, I’d recommend making a note of all the highlighted cards (which are on the bottom left of the screen after you select the secret pack) and then search for them in the separate ‘Deck’ menu on the main screen. If you then bookmark those cards, you can quickly find the cards that unlock relevant secret packs. To bookmark, simply click in the left stick so all cards in the game are present, not just the ones you own. Then press Y (on a controller) and type in the card’s name. Once the card you want appears, press the left trigger on it, and select the star symbol at the top. Now all you need to do is navigate to your bookmarked tab by clicking the right stick, and the card will always be there. Once you’ve bookmarked the highlighted cards in a secret pack, you can craft them by pressing the generate button on the same screen the bookmark icon is on. From there, cards are crafted with the relevant points. For example, secret rares use SR points, and ultra rares use UR points. So if you want to craft a certain SR/UR card to unlock a specific secret pack, go into the deck menu, find the card you bookmarked, and use your points to craft it. Crafting a card costs 30 points, and if you don’t have enough SR/UR points you can dismantle a card of the same rarity to get points back. Once you have enough points, just craft that card and you should be given a key for the secret pack you wanted. There are a lot of secret packs in Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel, so whilst you can find some truly overpowered cards, it’s recommended that you just open packs, explore each one you unlock, and go with what sounds interesting.
